Raising Minimum Wage Force Thailand Textile Enterprises To Close

If P Thailand HEU Party (PTP) raises the national minimum wage according to the agenda,

Textile manufacturers in the northeastern Chaiyaphum province of Thailand will face closure.

  


PTP is the leading Party of the ruling coalition government of Thailand.

It proposes to raise the minimum wage from 165 baht to 300 baht / day starting in January 2012.

It operates more than 40 production enterprises, investing 20 billion baht in Chaiyaphum Province, and established a textile industrial special zone in 2003.

  


Experts said that these enterprises employ more than 20000 workers to pay the minimum wage. If the minimum wage is actually raised to 300 baht, these enterprises will be unable to survive.
